Starting my Year of Wedding Photography

At the beginning of this year I had multiple bookings secured for 2020 & 2021. I was really looking forward to my first full year of being a self-employed wedding photographer. Thankfully, my first few weddings went wonderfully, especially Fiona & Nik’s (pictured below). Once lockdown was announced, many of my weddings were unfortunately being postponed until the next year. The last wedding I had the pleasure of photographing was Nermin & Igor’s. Fortunately, I was still working at my part time jobs. Even though the prospect of photographing weddings throughout Spring & Summer was unlikely, at least I still had an income. And so, as soon as lockdown came around, I took time to improve my website, social media accounts and to try and obtain more weddings for next year

Photographing my First wedding back

Due to the various restrictions on weddings, many either postponed, cancelled  or decided to go ahead with a small marriage ceremony & reception. In light of this, my first wedding back was for the wonderful Tom & Lauren. This lovely couple opted to make the most of their special day with a stunning marque, outdoor seating for guests and the most amazing weather! Being a small ceremony, it was really lovely to focus my photography on the bond between this couple. During their wedding, I captured some lovely intimate photographs, as well as family pictures. Above all, I have certainly enjoyed the various weddings I’ve photographed this year. Even though I do miss the larger weddings, it still is lovely to have an opportunity to provide photography to last a lifetime.

my most Recent Wedding

On the 2nd of October, I had the pleasure of photographing Mark & Debbie’s wedding. Firstly, the day started with a few preparation photographs at their family home. During this time I was able to capture the true emotions of the bride before her departure to the venue. As their  wedding was small (due to Covid) the ceremony was held at the magnificent Thomas Robinson Building in Stourbridge. Consequently, their ceremony was very intimate and in a stunning location. As can be seen, I captured some lovely photographs of the bride and groom. Following on, their reception was held at the Seven Stars Pub. Photographs of the interactions, celebrations and emotions were all captured here. Even though there were many restrictions put in place, Mark & Debbie still celebrated their marriage in the most wonderful way. Opting for the part day package, they received a USB, online gallery as well as a delightful wedding album. In addition, Mark & Debbie gave me some lovely feedback too!

Mark & Debbie's Feedback

“Charlie recently photographed our wedding, on the day he was courteous, calm and professional. Also charlie managed to capture some truly amazing images which I will always be grateful for. Charlie continued throughout the day to accommodate all that was asked of him and was a pleasure to have present on our special day. The service and the resultant images and album are truly a delight with Charlie presenting us with both formal photographs and many amazing natural images, his ability to capture the precise timing and spirit of the moment is stunning. I would thoroughly recommend Charlie both for his attitude on the day and the beautiful photographs we have received and will treasure well into the future.”

The future of Wedding Photography

Until things change here in the UK (fingers crossed), I do believe that small ceremonies and receptions will be continuing throughout 2021. Even though this does have many drawbacks as couples can’t have the weddings they desire, there are still positives. It means that wedding suppliers such as myself, are still able to earn an income and keep doing what they love. Marriages can still take place and couples can focus on what’s really important. Hopefully, by the time things do change, there will be a lot more demand for weddings. Currently my diary for 2021 is gradually filling up, however I still have many spaces available!
